Through the Hong Kong Jockey Club Medical andHealth Scholarship Scheme-cum-Fellowship for Top Talent in Mainland China, JCSPHPC proudly welcomedtop scholars from the National Health Commission (NHC) into our Master of Public Health Programme. Westrive to empower these top mainland scholars by offering diverse learning opportunities that enrich theirpostgraduate education and foster their professional growth in advancing public health.
Enriching Healthcare Exposure Beyond the Classroom
To complement the theoretical knowledge gained from the classroom, scholars deepen their healthcare expertise through visits to Hong Kong’s key healthcare services, enriching their understanding beyond academic learning and diving into real-world practice.
Scholars gained invaluable insights into Hong Kong’s emergency healthcare services during their visit to the Accident & Emergency Department at Prince of Wales Hospital. This comprehensive tour offered an in-depth understanding of the services and delivery of public emergency healthcare.
At the CUHK Medical Centre (CUHKMC), scholars attended an enlightening lecture by Prof. Hong FUNG, Executive Director and Chief Executive Office of CUHKMC. Prof. Fung provided a detailed overview of the centre’s operations before guiding scholars through key facilities, including the Education and Training Centre, Inpatient Demo Ward, Pharmacy, and other specialized units.
Beyond hospital settings, scholars explored the Tuen Mun District Health Centre (TMDHC), where theyexperienced the integration of primary healthcare services within the community. The visit showcasedTMDHC’s innovative approach of health promotion, free health risk assessment, chronic diseasemanagement and community rehabilitation.
These enriching experiences provide mainland scholars with practical exposure to public, private, andcommunity healthcare systems in Hong Kong, equipping them with invaluable knowledge and insights to enhance their healthcare professional development beyond the classroom.
