Our programme provides students with hands-on field opportunities in various parts of the world such as Southeast Asia, Mainland China, South Asia and Europe.

Partner Institutes

As one of the most prestigious universities in Asia, the School concerns both local and world-wide public health development. The School is well-known for its extensive international links. Since the School was built in 2001, it has worked to establish collaborations with different international organisations. In the past few years, closer links have been established with more than 90 well-known universities/institutions in 19 different countries. Links with mainland China are of particular importance and many staff members have extensive collaborations with universities and other organisations in the mainland.

Chi-Li Pao Foundation MPH Fellowship

Introduction

The Stanford Center for Asian Health Research and Education (CARE) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) announced the launching of the Chi-Li Pao Foundation MPH Fellowship which will provide a Stanford medical student the opportunity to earn a Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) from The JC School of Public Health and Primary Care (JCSPHPC). The MPH programme empowers future global health leaders with advanced training in cutting-edge public health science. Fellows will gain a broad international perspective and develop the skills needed to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges.

Award

Full tuition and a living stipend for one year
Enrollment in a comprehensive co-curricular leadership development programme at CUHK —a robust network of faculty, students in public health, research, and medicine
Engagement with mentors and highly accomplished leaders in Hong Kong communities

Eligibility

Eligible candidates for the Chi-Li Pao MPH Fellows Program are students who are enrolled in a M.D. degree from Stanford University
Established leadership abilities, intellectual distinction, academic achievement, and a commitment to public service

The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Fudan University

Master of Public Health Dual-Degree Programme

Introduction

The two-year Master of Public Health (MPH) and one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health (PgDPH) with integrated theory-practice curriculum allow students to achieve professional public health competency. It provides public health perspectives and skills necessary to assume effective leadership in public health practice, reflecting the three domains of health improvement, health protection and health service.

Background

The MPH degree at CUHK requires one year to complete (or two years in a part-time model), while the MPH degreeat Fudan University takes three years. With this Dual-Degree programme, students can complete both degrees injust three years

Application & Admission

The applications will be jointly reviewed and evaluated by CUHK and Fudan University.

Applicants must fulfil the respective admission requirements of both Universities and be admitted by both MPHprogrammes.

Tuition Fee & Scholarships

Students admitted to the Dual- Degree programme are required to pay the tuition fees for both MPH programmes.Scholarships are available for application.

Mentors Recruitment

Take foundation and core courses and practical activities at Fudan University

Application Period

Take additional and elective courses
Embark on a capstone project co-supervised by instructors from both universities
Graduate from the CUHK MPH programme and obtain the first MPH degree

Mentorship Period

Continue and extend the co-supervised capstone project for the master's degree thesis of Fudan University
Graduate from the Fudan MPH programme and obtain the second MPH degree*

*Those who meet Fudan University’s graduation and degree completion requirements will receiveboth of Master’s Degree Certificate and Master’s Graduation Certificate from Fudan University.

Enriching Healthcare Exposure Beyond the Classroom

To complement the theoretical knowledge gained from the classroom, scholars deepen their healthcare expertise through visits to Hong Kong’s key healthcare services, enriching their understanding beyond academic learning and diving into real-world practice.

Scholars gained invaluable insights into Hong Kong’s emergency healthcare services during their visit to the Accident & Emergency Department at Prince of Wales Hospital. This comprehensive tour offered an in-depth understanding of the services and delivery of public emergency healthcare.

At the CUHK Medical Centre (CUHKMC), scholars attended an enlightening lecture by Prof. Hong FUNG, Executive Director and Chief Executive Office of CUHKMC. Prof. Fung provided a detailed overview of the centre’s operations before guiding scholars through key facilities, including the Education and Training Centre, Inpatient Demo Ward, Pharmacy, and other specialized units.

Beyond hospital settings, scholars explored the Tuen Mun District Health Centre (TMDHC), where theyexperienced the integration of primary healthcare services within the community. The visit showcasedTMDHC’s innovative approach of health promotion, free health risk assessment, chronic diseasemanagement and community rehabilitation.

These enriching experiences provide mainland scholars with practical exposure to public, private, andcommunity healthcare systems in Hong Kong, equipping them with invaluable knowledge and insights to enhance their healthcare professional development beyond the classroom.
