袁晞勤(Higgins) 在完成香港中文大學公共衞生碩士課程後一直從事醫療體系、政策及管理有關的工作,由非牟利機構做到私營及公立醫療系統,希望利用自己的經驗與知識幫忙支撐香港醫療體系的運作。

物理治療師肩負復康及預防疾病角色 基層醫療健康仍需各界攜手同心協力

對於2021年完成香港中文大學公共衞生碩士課程的物理治療師葉曉彤(Joan)而言,今年已是踏進物理治療行業的第四個年頭。當初希望藉由康復運動及其他物理治療技巧治癒病人,惟在工作過程中漸漸發現所學知識仍難以全面幫助病人。「當我向一個有肥胖及三高問題的病人闡述長遠要多注意飲食和生活習慣才可以進一步預防關節痛症復發時,病人常常會回說:人人都有三高,不足掛齒吧。」 Joan 解釋,正因病人對疾病有著不同的謬誤,甚至於忽視,治療進度及康復狀態都會有所耽誤。「我不時想,不只專有化的治療才可以幫助病人,一些早期的基層醫療宣傳及教育也同樣重要」,這便牽涉到多專業團隊合作及跨界別配合才能真正地守護市民的健康。

不讓疫情阻礎發展護理學畢業生從公共衞生出發 重在於防

「從前在醫院實習,看到很多悲劇,感受到醫護在治療階段能幫助的有限,希望在公共衞生的角度去思考疾病,幫助更多的人。」來自中國內地的王鉑湲,在內地完成護理學士課程之際,遇上新冠肺炎疫情,疫情啟發她研讀公共衞生的興趣,盼藉其知識和研究幫助更多人。

從社區需要看到推展公共衞生的使命 場景變初心不變

由病房走到手術室,由加拿大來到香港,從學做醫護到掌握公共衞生的知識,當全球遇到新型冠狀病毒,李旖婷(Judy)多年來的專業和經驗可大派用場,帶到機場的檢測站,為社區把關。不論任職護士或公共衞生項目總監,Judy稱其初心從未改變,見到不同人士有不同需要時,更感有更多可能為社區做更多,「要讓所有人都能容易地接觸公共衞生知識和醫療保健,這是世界上每人的基本人權,這信念引領著我,不論站在任何崗位,都要保持這個初心」。

以公共衞生精神救災 憑經驗做好規劃工作

每當發生天災人禍後,總有一群參與災害管理的人員,飛往當地統籌賑災物資及災後重建工作,陳以諾(Christabel)便是其中一位。作為世界宣明會亞太區域緊急救援事務專員,Christabel在完成中文大學公共衞生碩士課程後一直從事人道救授工作,不經不覺已是第七個年頭,她卻沒有一刻想過退下來,甚至申請了調任到巴布新畿內亞的前線工作,累績救援經驗及技巧。

跨專業學習 公共衞生「落地」融入社區

公共衞生非離地學術,中大賽馬會公共衞生及基層醫療學院教授李大拔教授(Albert)經常思考,如何透過政策建造更健康的社區,令每個人都得到健康生活的權利。作為中大公共衞生碩士兼讀制課程首屆學生,他透過經年研究和走進社區實戰,發現公共衞生人才單有醫療背景未必足夠,更需要其他專業範疇的參與,才可令公共衞生「落地」,進入學校、社區建設、政策和公眾教育,從而改善人的生活。Albert目前任教中大公共衞生碩士課程「健康促進及社會行為學」教學領域,同時是資深校友。回想當年英國讀醫後返港,他第一份工作是到公立醫院急症室,察覺求診者之中不少屬非緊急個案,造成緊急服務資源錯配。這情景在他私人執業期間一直盤踞心中,帶來更多思考:若可以在社區層面預防疾病,能否減少急症室的非緊急病人?在診所醫治到眼前的病人, 但更多在社區中的病人,有沒有更根本性的處理方式?因此他於1996年入讀首屆中大公共衞生碩士兼讀制課程,從社區層面尋找出路。
